Wilsonart® Adhesives Earn GREENGUARD® Certification
GREENGUARD® Indoor Air Quality Certified

The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) has designated Wilsonart Adhesives’ polyvinyl acetate (PVA)-based laminating and woodworking adhesives, as well as Wilsonart® Adhesives’ H2O water-based contact adhesive as GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified®.  Wilsonart Adhesives is the first adhesive manufacturer to have their PVA-based laminating and woodworking adhesives certified according to these stringent standards for low emitting products. This adds to the Wilsonart portfolio of GREENGUARD Certified products that includes Wilsonart® Laminate and Wilsonart® Laminate Flooring.

With this latest certification, designers, builders, architects, specifying professionals and contractors can use these Wilsonart Adhesives products in conjunction with other GREENGUARD Certified products, including Wilsonart high pressure laminates, to install low-emitting decorative surfacing. Choosing low-emitting products can significantly reduce the level of potentially irritating contaminates in indoor environments and contribute to better indoor air quality.

Selecting low-emitting products is an important strategy for achieving indoor environmental quality in many leading green building programs including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®). Wilsonart Adhesives’ PVA-based laminating adhesives and the H2O water-based contact adhesive can be used to obtain the following credits in LEED-NC Version 2.2: EQ Credit 4.1: Low Emitting Materials: Adhesives and Sealants (1 Point) and EQ Credit 4.4: Low Emitting Materials: Composite Wood and Agrifiber Products (1 Point). The GREENGUARD Certification provides more opportunities for these products to contribute to additional credits in other building programs including Green Guide for Health Care 2.2, LEED-CI, LEED Canada for Commercial Interiors, and LEED for Homes.

"Wilsonart continues to demonstrate their commitment to developing low-emitting products that protect the indoor environment," says GEI CEO Carl Smith.  "With this most recent certification, Wilsonart is broadening the scope of low-emitting products that now can be used to furnish and finish interior spaces.  GEI is pleased to be working with Wilsonart as they expand their GREENGUARD Certified products."
